Behind the Scenes: Our Latest Buying Trip

There’s something pretty exciting about heading off on a buying trip — especially when you know you’re coming home with the dresses that our future brides will be falling in love with.

This time, we headed to Harrogate for a few days of bridal fashion, buying, catching up with designers and, of course, plenty of dress talk!

Buying trips are a huge part of what we do behind the scenes at The Bridal Dress Company. It’s our chance to step away from the shop, see what’s coming next and hand-pick the dresses we think our brides are going to love.

And there is A LOT to see.

From brand-new collections and beautiful fabrics to incredible backs, dramatic trains, modern silhouettes and all the little details that make a dress feel the one — we spent our days looking, discussing and making some very exciting decisions.

We also got to spend time with some of our favourite designers, which is always one of the best parts of a buying trip. It’s so lovely to see the people behind the dresses, hear about the inspiration for new collections and get a sneak peek at what’s coming next.

Catching up with our bridal industry friends

It isn’t all about the buying either!

One of our favourite things about heading to Harrogate is seeing so many familiar faces from the bridal industry. Bridal can be a busy world, so having the opportunity to catch up with designers, suppliers and industry friends over a drink is always a highlight.

There’s something really lovely about being surrounded by people who are just as obsessed with bridal fashion as we are.

And yes… we may have bought a few dresses!

We definitely didn’t come home empty-handed.

Choosing the dresses for the boutique is one of my favourite parts of owning The Bridal Dress Company. Every dress has to earn its place on our rails. We’re constantly thinking about our brides — what they’re looking for, the shapes they love, the styles we know they’ll ask for and, importantly, what feels fresh and exciting.

We want our collection to feel current, modern and a little bit different, while still having something for every bride.

What happens next?

Now comes the really exciting yet frustrating part — waiting for all those new dresses to arrive!

Some will be arriving over the coming weeks and months, and we absolutely cannot wait to get them onto the rails and start showing them to you.

There’s always something special about opening a box containing a brand-new wedding dress. You might have seen it on a runway or in a designer showroom, but seeing it arrive at your own boutique and imagining the bride who is going to say yes to it is something else entirely.

So, if you’ve got a bridal appointment coming up, keep your eyes peeled…
